Tzyy Anne: Food That Typical Kids Won't Like

Well as the title suggests, here are the list of food that some even Mummy won't like it...

Oranges
Garlic - the ones where you can find on any stir fry dishes
Pineapple - which Mummy never eats
'Wai San' - some sort of Chinese herb used to boil soup or desert where the texture is like potato
Green leafy vegetables
Any sour fruits, eg. Strawberries, plums, etc.

So far, Anne does not fancy durian yet... We will see..

Veron: Milk Arrival

Colustrum came faster this time, 2 days after delivery. It is also thanks to my mother-in-law for her effort in preparing food to increase my milk supply. Milk came two days later and this time I can manage the pain better. Cabbage leaves do work surprisingly. Leia is also latching well compared to Anne last time. Anne also helped in contributing my milk supply. She only suckles at night just to go asleep. I have not seen how much I have collected so far (the fridge is in the kitchen downstairs and I have not gone down since the day I came back from the hospital...) but according to my mother-in-law, she has to transfer my supplies to the mini deep freezer as the fridge freezer is almost full. I was previously using chicken essence bottles to store my supplies. Now that it is almost used up, I have to buy more storage bottle from the online store (it was so convenient and furthermore, I am still under confinement.). So far so good. At several times, I managed to pump 6oz at 1 time for that day.

Hopefully, this continues and keeping my fingers crossed as not to have major problems later...

I am scheduled for the induction at 9am. Dr. Vijayan, one of my specialist told me to be prepared (shower, have breakfast...). When the time arrives, a nurse escorted me to the treatment room. I waited for about 30 minutes before the doctor came to attend to me. (Well, he has to go round the ward to follow up on patients' cases with a team of doctors).

The procedure did went fast and it wasn't a painless one. I was a bit terrified about this procedure as I heard a lot about induction stories.

After I returned to my bed, there are a group of nurses surrounding me to monitor my progress for every 15 minutes on BP & contraction monitoring and also CTG. As usual when the nurse asked me, "Ade rasa contraction tak?" I told her, "Saya tak tau beza contraction dengan baby gerak.." And then she asked me again, "Ade rasa macam perut kejang?" "So far tak ade nurse." It has been like this until 11am. At the mean time, I was enjoying the selection of songs in my iPod to keep me relax. I started to feel my back getting crampy and this time around I told the nurse that I started to feel the pain. So this is contraction pain... I texted Hubby at about 11.30am on when is he coming to pay me a visit. He replied that he will be arriving at about 12.30pm. He also asked me is there anything that I need. I told him that I need a big bottle of minyak cap kapak because I know it is going to get crankier later.

Lunch was served at 12pm and I find it hard to concentrate as the pain is getting more intense. I did force myself to the hospital food. Too bad they served fried fish so I just ate rice and the veggies. The nurses were impressed as I still can eat at this stage. Hubby arrived not long later and I was frowning most of the time when talking to him.

Contraction getting stronger this time. At 1pm, it is 5/10 and I am still pulling through. I felt as though my back is going to break. I asked
Hubby to give me a strong massage at my lower back each time the contraction comes. It is getting more and more regular & intense. I
asked the nurse how long do I need to wait for my VE as I am afraid I might not in time for my epidural (need to dilate to either 3-4cm). She
then said have to wait for my specialist to come first which is at 2pm before they can decide on anything. I never felt such an intensity in my
life before and I was moaning in pain this time.

I cannot wait any longer. Every second feels like hell. According to the other doctors and the group of nurses, I was progressing too fast. At
1.50pm, I was requesting for a VE. The nurse said OK but I need to walk to the treatment room. I told them it will be impossible as I cannot
focus on anything accept the pain. I wanted to be examined on my bed itself. There were no curtains at my ward so they have to surround
my bed with the dividers.

I felt I was leaking. I told one of the nurse that my water might have broke. Yea indeed, my pad was soaked when they removed it. I was
already 6cm when they examined me. I still put my hope on the painkillers. This time around I requested to be sent to the labour room
immediately. When one of the nurses asked me do I have the urge to push, I just said yes.

I was transferred to another trolley bed to be shipped to the labour room. It was a temporary relief until I was left at the corridor. I was
thinking, "What? I still need to wait?" One of the nurses said the doctors need to compile their reports and signatures before they can send
me to the labour room. I shouted, "What am I waiting now? I cannot wait anymore as I have the urge to push already." One of the doctors
said, "You cannot push now as it will caused ruptures. Please hang on." I replied, "I really cannot hold it anymore. Please hurry up!!" I was
resisting to push, it was so difficult for me and without realizing I was shaking badly.

Hearing that, the nurses pushed me to the labour room. The room was air-conditioned and were filled with a lot of people inside. There were
2 doctors, 3-4 trainee doctors and a nurse. One of the Chinese doctor, Dr. Tan said that the room is too crowded and someone need to
leave. I immediately asked for my painkiller which the doctor quickly replied that I am too late for that. I refused to accept that fact and
without realizing I was begging for it. The doctor inserted some sort of a tube down there to release my urine. Then, he ruptured something
and the brownish fluid splashed everywhere. I thinked I have to accept the fact that I am too late for epidural. I then requested for the
"laughing gas" which I doubted its effectiveness on me (based on past experience..). I started to inhale the gas deeply as it will take some
time for it to take effect. How much longer do I need to wait as the last time I was told my dilation was 6cm?

They started to fix the 2 poles at the sides of the bed. Dr. Tan appointed one of the younger lady doctor to give me instructions. It was then
Hubby was allowed to come into the room. I asked him to assist me with the gas in the event when I needed it. I asked the young lady
doctor whether I can start to push now. I was delighted when she said yes. In an instant I started to push when the contraction comes. This
time I was shouting and lifted my buttock. The lady doctor also raised her voice saying I should not "make that noise" and do not lift the
buttock up. I was wondering how long this is going to take as the last time I took 45 minutes just to get Anne out. The next push is the longer
one, the longest push that I have ever made until the doctors have to stop me. I was still moaning but with my mouth closed. The head was
out. Ok, one final push and I can feel she is all out. What a relief!

Leia was born at 2.40pm. She was 3.24kg at birth.

Veron: The Show Has Begun?

After our dinner, I decided to follow Hubby & my sister-in-law to do some banking in Puchong. Hubby decided to take us for supper at a "lok-lok" truck. We went home shortly after that. Once we arrived at home, I visited the toilet and there I discovered I had bloody thick yellowish mucus. Immediately, I told Hubby and my mother-in-law about the good news, "It's time!" My sister-in-law said the supper must have triggered the show. Haha... Anne was all so excited that she took her red strawberry bag and her hulla hoop, wanted to follow us to the hospital.

We reached the hospital about 11pm and went straight to the admission section. Then, doctor did a VE on me and I was actually 1.5cm dilated. I warded at 3rd class and I could feel the stuffiness of the air when I arrived on the wheelchair. The ward was not so bad afterall. There are curtains and plug points. Unfortunately, the bathroom are not usable as they are under maintenance.

I could hardly dozed off. Maybe Hubby is right. I am used to air-conditioned room. I tried to shut my eyes but the thought of the real contractions coming was haunting me. On top of that, they can't switched off all the lights as the whole ward will be in total darkness. Luckily, the 3G connection here is good enough. I watched ASTRO, scrolled through the online newspaper over and over again and has gone through every single remarks on FB.

It rained heavily about 4am and the ward did felt cooler until the next day. I think I fell asleep for 2 solid hours and was awaken by my
mother-in-law's phone call. She asked me whether I need any breakfast from home. I felt it was not necessary as I can just munch whatever
the ward has to offer.

At 7.30am, a lady doctor woke me up. The bunch of doctors did came early this time around. I was questioned and was examined. Then I took a bath by using the bidet in the toilet. How refreshing I felt after that. Patiently waiting for Hubby to visit me. Again, I am still the ticking time bomb...

Veron: Trigger Pulled

As scheduled I went for checkup this morning and was prepared for admission. I am weighing at 63.9kg now, BP seemed to be normal. I also did my CTG and ultrasound. Everything looks fine. Baby is now 2.9kg. Well, still no pain and no show yet. My doctor decided to do a membrane strip. I was asked to wash up in the toilet and there I noticed thick yellowish mucus on my pad. A good sign. After the uncomfortable procedure, I was told that I am already 2.5cm dilated. Another good sign. I was given a choice of being warded or to go home. Since everything is ok, I decided to go home. My doctor said, "All the best! Just waiting for the pain and you are all set." Hubby is very anxious now and he asked me how long do we need to wait again this time. I said it will not be long this time. Reached home, visited the toilet again and I saw another thick mucus discharge in the bowl. Well, looks like things are going on track...

Anne: Feverish Again

Anne was tossing & turning the whole night. At first mummy thought she was just having bad dreams and could not sleep. Mummy touched Anne's little feet and forehead. She might be having a bit of a temperature here. Daddy took the termometer from the box and indeed Anne is down with fever. Mummy went downstairs to get some medicine & made some neat iced Ribena. Mummy came back into the room and attempted to feed Anne. After some so-called successful persuasion & threats that my sister-in-law will wake up from her sleep to scold her (Anne is afraid of my sister-in-law...), she vomited out the medicine & her previous meal that she had (milk & chocolate ice-cream with bread). Mummy had to clean up the mess on the bed & had to sponge Anne. Daddy carried Anne out to the living hall right after her pyjamas was changed.

Meanwhile, mummy have to prepare another dosage of Panadol and neat iced Ribena (this is how we get Anne to swallow her medicine). This time around, we switched on the TV to Anne's favourite channel hoping that it will distract her. After content persuasion, we were glad that Anne managed to finish her dosage (mummy was keeping her fingers' crossed, hoping Anne will not puke everything out again...). Anne started to yawn & mummy and daddy can continue their way to slumberland...zzzzzz

Veron: It's Not Time Yet

I woke up at the time like how I get ready for work. Still no signs yet, the toilet and my pad says. After my shower, I woke Hubby up to accompany me to the hospital for my scheduled appointment. During the journey, I requested for Hubby to pick me up from the lobby on the way home (if I am not being 'detained') instead of walking to the parking lot.

We reached there 30 minutes earlier than usual. After a slow walk, I reached the counter and handed my appointment book to one of the nurses. She has a particularly smiley face today rather than the normal no facial expression look. There were only 1 patient there, I guessed I do not have to wait too long. Normal procedures followed. They weighed me (63.8kg) and took my BP. After that, CTG scan.

Not long after that I was called to the ultrasound room. There, Dr. Baskaran was waiting and greeted us with a smile. His first words were,"How's baby doing?" "Very active, doctor..", I replied. Started off with the baby measurements and AF scans, everything finished within about 10 minutes. I was hoping he would say something that I wanted to hear but instead he said, "I will see you in another week. If nothing happens within this week, you will have to prepare for admission." "Another week?", I puzzled. He did not even mentioned anything about VE and I did not mentioned about that as I do not want to question his professionalism. In my heart, "May be baby is not ready to face the world yet..." I was feeling a bit disappointed but at the same time glad as baby is doing fine.

Hmm.. What is the big deal then. I am not the only mummy who experienced overdue pregnancy. Even my mother-in-law was overdued for 9 days during her fourth pregnancy. I do not think I will beat her at that this time... :)

Veron: No Contractions Yet?

I requested my mother-in-law to check for any real contractions. After 15 minutes of putting her palm on my tummy, there were no signs of contractions yet? She said what I experienced were Braxton Hicks'. (Honestly, eventhough this is my second pregnancy, I do not know how to time or feel the contractions... :P) What? At this point, still no clear signs yet. Well, I am pretty sure tomorrow the doctor will give me the VE which will kick start the labour. The waiting game continues...

Veron: Waiting Game

My due date has finally arrived but I am still patiently waiting for strong signs. I was hoping this time around that I might go into labour much earlier. However, looks like I might be overdue this time. My next doctor's appointment is tomorrow (maybe the doctor knows what is coming...). So far they have not checked my dilation yet (last week might be too early - dilation examination will some how induced labour).

During Anne's time, my checkup was 1 day before my due. They found I was 2cm dilated and my AF has reduced. I was hospitalized for observation. The next day morning about 10am, my mucus plug dropped out before they could examined me and I was shipped to labour room immediately. With still no pain yet, I requested for an epidural.

I did experienced stomach cramps a few times at night these past few days. Whenever I visit the toilet, I was hoping for a show. One thing is it is getting more difficult to walk around as my tummy is getting heavier and gravity is pushing the baby downwards. I am tossing and turning when sleeping at night. As usual, I will wake up for a session of pee in the wee hours and I keep having these vivid dreams every night.

I am now a walking time bomb. Everybody is unlocking their doors when they are sleeping, in case I am shouting for pain.. hehe. Everybody has also been asking me, "Still no pain?.... Still not in labour yet?..." Well, whenever the baby is prepared... :)

Tzyy Anne:Yeast Infection

We brought Anne to a children's clinic earlier in Sri Petaling. Anne has been having rashes at the vaginal area for the past week and Drapolin cream doesn't seemed to work anymore. Mummy suspected this is not a normal nappy rash and it might be a fungal infection. According to doctor, this condition is called candida which is also a type of nappy rash. Mummy was shocked to hear that term as she also associates that with diseases such as AIDS or STD. Doctor said Drapolin is only to prevent rashes. As of this stage, it does not work anymore. Doctor prescribed us a cream which is supposed to make Anne heal after application for the next 3 days. It is so effective that even after 1 application just now, Mummy can see that it already starting to dry up. Luckily, Anne does not feel itchy as a result of the rashes. Goodbye cheap diapers (Pampers brand)...

Veron: Baby Bump At Week 26

I went for my routine checkup today. I been waiting for my doctor but was told later he is still in the meeting. I was refered to another doctor instead which I feel he is not very good in performing the scanning. Nevertheless, I can't wait any longer as I need to get back to work soon. Baby is normal but small in size. I remembered my tummy was even smaller when Anne was still inside. Baby is weighing about 800 gms now. My blood pressure is normal. My weight has increased 1 kg which is now makes me 57 kg. I am hoping to hit 60 kg towards the end of 3rd trimester which I didn't managed to achieve in my last pregnancy. Hubby says I shouldn't stuff myself with food too much just to achieve my target weight and focus on healthy diet instead. My next checkup will be a month from today so by then I will be in my final trimester. Phew.. How time flies...

Tzyy Anne: Knowing colours

Anne officially knows her colours today after months of teaching by all of us. Previously, she just took a wild guess and can only recognized pink colour. We thought maybe most of her belongings are in pink and that is why she can remember that hue so well. Another milestone for little Anne!

Happy New Year! I am expecting a baby girl in another 3 months. So far I am eating well except for that I can't take fish in particular (I can't really take seafood also...so pondan crab now is out of the question..). I keep mentioning about the baby to Anne and I hope they can blend eventhough I know it WILL take some time for Anne to adjust. Anne is the most loving toddler I have ever known, so hopefully things will turn out fine. Toothpaste still makes me puke, that is something I cannot avoid twice a day. Oral hygienne is very important for preggers, else the bacteria will go all the way down to the baby. OK, Chao for now!

Veron: Trip To I-City

1st Uncle and 4th Uncle family came from the north for a visit. After a seafood dinner (yes, pondan crab again...), we decided to drop by I-City. From the highway, we already saw cars lining up to enter the area. Suprisingly, there was an entrance fee of RM10 per vehicle which they claimed as a voucher for us to redeem food in any restaurant up there. Well, it is a good excuse for them to generate business. At first I thought, it is a fee to help them settle the electricity bill.

We were amazed by the artificial trees and bushes with lights on them. It was a slight drizzle at that time but it did not prevent us from getting all so excited. Once we entered the compound, it felt as if we are in Pandora (have you watched Avatar?).

Ah Ya bought 2 big containers of 'Mau San Wong' durians. It does not excite me as I am not a fan of durian at all. Mummy did not realised how big Anne was before she gets on the pram. Anne's leg was so long already that it protuded out of the pram. This pram was given by Ah Ngen's colleague and was kept somewhere in the house. Mummy decided to take Anne for a stroll...in a pram instead. Mummy is sure that Anne will be so excited about this. Equiped with Anne's water bottle and with Anne wearing a tiara on her head, Mummy felt like she is joining a parade.

26/6/2010 - Anne went for the 2nd half dose of the H1N1 jab. We went to the Little Ones Clinic in USJ in the morning. Anne was not told what is coming again. When we were in the doctor's room, Anne was mesmerised with the big Kungfu Panda sand bag behind the door. Then, prick! Jab at the behind. No tears this time..

Anne went for a periodic check up as usual at Kuchai Lama Clinic. Mummy and Maelah reached there about 7am. As usual, there were a lot of Mummy and Daddy queuing up to wait for the clinic to be openned.

There were no jabs for Anne already. Therefore, there were only weighing & height measuring session.

Then, there was a Q & A session with the staff nurse. She is wonderful today. We left about 9.15am and Anne's next appointment will be in 3 months time.

I remembered when I was in training school, there was a session where we have to file our nails. Suddenly I was thinking of why not I go for a treat for myself. Honestly speaking, I never really pampered myself all these years eventhough I used to have 'access' to all these facilities.

I went to this place called 'Belle's Secret Beauty SPA' which is near to my in-law's house (I do not want to go too far away from the house as I do not want to leave Anne too long...). I did not know what to expect as this is my first session. Actually I only wanted to do only a manicure (I already had my feet nails painted myself) but I thought why not just indulge a bit by doing pedicure all together.

I had my dead skins around my cuticles removed and they did a scrub and mask on my feet. I specifically loved the smell of the scrub (smells like mango and candy...) and it still lingers even after I had reached home.

I got my 2 thumb nails scratched when I was about to remove my card from my wallet. Therefore, I have to ask the lady to do my nails again. In general, it was a great experience and I would love to come again...

I am all so excited not because of the World Cup but I get to learn how to make Bak Chang from my mom-in-law this year. It is a skill that my mom did not manage to inherit from my late grandma and that is why I feel I need to continue this tradition. Let's check out the fillings...

The main actress - mung beans & stir fried glutonious rice

Salted Duck Eggs

Dried Shrimp

Chinese Black Mushrooms

Fried Sliced Garlic

Fried Shallots

Production Section

Choose a nice bamboo leaf.

Wipe it dry with a piece of cloth.

Fold the leaves into a cone shape.

Scoop some glutunios rice into the cone.

Fill up with fried shallot, fried garlic, dried shrimps...

...mushrooms, salted egg & pork.

Cover up the filling with some glutunious rice.

Wrap it up (yes, this does require some skills..)

Tie the whole package with a string.

Voila! I manage to make a bunch.

Well, it is not my Sifu who will determine whether my Bak Chang passes the test...

..it will be this big pot of water. If the filling comes out, means I seriously need to improve my skills.

This Bak Chang festival is also dedicated to all the men out there, who do not have a decent meal during the World Cup event. (Buttock glued to the sofa, eyes glued to the TV set and mouth filled with Bak Chang...)

9/6/2010 - I saw this ad by Big Apple Donuts which captured my attention. Donuts in the shapes of sushis! They have 28 varieties. I bought the big box with consists of 28 pieces, so it was all different flavors. I would not recommend this to those who do not have a sweet tooth as they are actually mushkins with chocolate sauce or jam stuffings. It also comes with a small container of chocolate sauce. What a sin!

4/6/2010 - Hubby drove Esther's new Forte and headed to Kota Kemuning to pick up Khoo. We went to Restoran Bubur Goreng in Berkeley, Klang for a munch. I guess it is supposed to be supper rather than dinner as when we reached there, it was already 9pm. Khoo called the 'Ah Pek' to make sure our seafood is still being reserved. The speciality of the food here is of course, the transexual crab or most popular known in local jargon as 'pondan' crab. There was not many people who at the restaurant when we arrived. Well, it was way past dinner time. However, we found that Klang-nites likes heavy supper when 30 minutes later, they swarmed the restaurant. Check out what we had ordered...

28/5/2010 - We attended Soo Yee's wedding in Sentul. Soo Yee is Hubby's primary schoolmate and has been keeping in touch ever since. It was astonishing to know that he and his wife has been romantically involved since Form 2 (secondary education). The wedding was held in a school hall. Knowing it is a school hall, no one could imagine that the hall has been transformed to a Cinderella ballroom. The stage special effects was superb, with balls of fire that came out in the specific events during the dinner.

26/5/2010 - We brought Anne to Klinik Pakar Kanak-Kanak Little Ones in USJ for her flu jab. Well, she was all so excited, wearing her sleeveless polka-dot dress, not knowing what is coming next. As usual, the doctor's room is full of toys. Anne is particularly attracted to the 'Kungfu Panda' sandbag hiding behind the door. Doctor asked Mummy to carry Anne, chest to chest with Anne's behind facing doctor. 'Prick', there goes our drama queen...bursting into tears. Doctor quickly console Anne with his mastered skills of making balloons. Doctor shaped the red balloon into a parrot sitting on a stick. Anne was distracted and focused on her new toy. Well, the jab jab sure caused a pain, not only in Anne's buttock but also in our pocket (RM100).... and this is only the 1st dose. 2nd dose, coming soon next month....

Veron: Trip To Bukit Tinggi

We`went to Bukit Tinggi for a day trip earlier today. The gentlemen were off for a golf game (Hubby, Bro-In-Law, Father-In-Law & 7th Uncle) at Berjaya Golf & Country Resort while the ladies were the breathtaking scenery (Mother-In-Law, Grandma-In-Law, Sis-In-Law, 7th Aunty & the maid and Anne). Well, there is nothing much in Bukit Tinggi. We were lazying at the lobby of Berjaya Hotel where I noticed the models (German Castle & Spanish Village) which is their proposed projects. Quite a large scale project which I think it won't have happened judging from the way they are maintaining the place.

We went to the Rabbit Farm which is our first stop. The entry fee of RM3 was waived. Maybe there were not many animals left to see.

Next, we went to the Japanese Garden and Colmar Tropicale which cost us entry fee of RM10 per person. I felt this place is going to suffer the same fate as Mimaland There were 3 attractions in the Japanese Garden (a Japanese restaurant, SPA, Japanese suite & botanical garden).

Except for the botanical garden, the rest was closed. I saw in one of the notice that a 1 1/2 hour session of foot reflexology cost RM400.00. The pond's water in the Japanese garden is all murky. We sat on the shuttle bus from the car park. The ride downhill was scary when the driver reversed the bus. Imagine the brakes suddenly failed and we will all be travelling down the slope like a amusement park ride - backwards!

From here we went to Colmar Tropicale. It was quite sunny that day but breezy. We passed by a French castle which is about 80% completed. If I am not mistaken, it is supposed to be a hotel. We parked our car at the basement carpark underneath Colmar. We loitered around the area, not much attraction to be seen. There were a mini bazaar, fun games booth and a mini stage. We watched a performance by the dancers which I felt very poorly choreographed and it does not match the stage performance as of hotel status.

One of the bad experience is the hotel's public toilet. I always have the impression that hotel toilets are brightly lit, classy and most importantly, clean and dry! I was disappointed to find that the toilet sit is full of wet foot print and the floor is wet all over. The other cubicle, the toilet bowl is full of toilet paper until some all strewn all over the wet floor. Hah, what a 'wonderful' sight. The tap on the washing basin was so loose that it almost came off when you turned it.

We then headed towards the golf club for a picnic at the carpark. It wasn't a pleasant experience either as I was stung by tiny bugs inside the car. I wished that I had brought with me the mosquito repellent.

Mummy bought Anne a new pair of shoes since Mummy felt that the only sandal that Anne is wearing is undersized. (Anne has a pair of Croc, a pair of pink boots and an oversized red bunny sandal). Since Anne is going for a walk on regular basis to Bukit Jalil park & prior to our trip to Bukit Tinggi which is today, Mummy decided to buy a pair of comfortable sport shoe for Anne. The only place that Mummy could think of is to go to Studio-R. Yes, Mummy chose to buy a Reebok as it is better looking than others. When we got home and Mummy told Daddy that Anne got a new pair of shoes, Daddy said, "Was it a pair of Bubblegummers?" Hmm, why didn't Mummy thought of that? Lucky me... =P

I took leave from work to take care of Anne as my in-laws are on a holiday visit to Jakarta a few months ago. Well, I am happy that I managed to cook some meal for Tai Ngean.

Steamed Chicken With Ginger & Liquor
Step 1Place chicken in a mixing bowl. Sprinkle chopped ginger on top.

Step 2Marinades: Sesame Oil, Chinese Liquor & Oyster Sauce

Step 3Pour all the marinades into the chicken & mix it, Jamie Oliver style...

Step 4Place in the steamer for about 15-20 minutes and voila!

Step 1Soak dried shrimp, cut mushrooms & cabbage into pieces

Step 2Stir fried all the ingredients in a hot wok and voila!

According to Hubby, there are 3 types of mountain bikers.

Type 1

People who fully utilised their VTT (velo tout terrain - in French means bicycle for all terrains [hehe, direct translation]), and associate themselves with these words -> offroads, sweat, dirt & mud, mozzies, uphills & downhills, etc.
My Say: Tiring but fun. Worth the energy spent riding uphill when you know there is 100 Plus waiting on top!

Type 2

People who are caught between mountain biking and roadie status. This is either they are finding riding offroad too tough and prefers to ride on tarmacs (eg. highway) which is much easier as the surface is flat or they do not want to get their bikes dirty.
My Say: It doesn't matter what you rode on but riding on highways is dangerous as chances are you will get hit by vehicles. It is much healthier to ride offroad as you will be breathing fresh air and surrounded by greeneries.

Type 3

People who rides their mountain bikes in the parks for leisure or for the sake of still would like to continue to do their routine rides but cannot go offroad because of buttock pain.
My Say: I still remember my college mates invited me for cycling in a park near Bandar Tun Razak. They mentioned that since I love cycling so much, why don't I join them and they can also rent a bike at the park. Sorry, thanks but no thanks. For taman riders, why spend so much on your bike where you can just rent?

I went to FRIM for a short ride with Hubby and his friends. Well, tagged along 2 newbies (Khoo & Wong) and also Calvin. Khoo borrowed a bike from us (he rode my bro-in-law's bike). Hubby slept at about 3am the day before. The bikes need servicing. We took my bike from our Puchong house and his at Wangsa Maju house (wiping sweat from our foreheads...) to Bukit Jalil house.

We digged out all our MTB stuffs (bags, gloves, helmets, tools, tubes, bladders - which is already gone moldy inside and we decided to buy new ones, Hammer Gels, portable tyre pumps, cycling shoes & attires).

I found out that my bike was not up to satisfaction where Hubby actually make major part swaps from my bike to my bro-in-law bike (as I was pregnant with Anne and Hubby some how cannot find any kaki to cycle). I asked Hubby, "Oh no...where's my Duke fork and disc brakes?"

We filled up our stomachs with some bread and Milo, reached FRIM about 7am with a little bit of drizzle. I told Hubby, we won't be feeling the rain when we are in the jungle as there will be canopy above us. We met up at the FRIM library and set up our bikes. I was stoned when one of Hubby's friends, Wong brought his single speed bike.

You Don't Know What's Coming...

Arrogance or ignorance? We moved on to the trail head just after the mosque. It was a gradual uphill and Hubby warned the newbies to pace themselves. After 6 years of MTB experience, uphill is something that I am familiar of. Consistent slow speed, no hurry (this is not a race), keep breathing will keep me going all the way. Along the way, I passed by a spot which I am familiar of. Yes, it is the spot where I puked before due to poor skills. Wrong gears, heavy breakfast and not pacing myself resulted in this. This happens to Khoo today. Riding super fast and gulping too much air makes it no different than drinking 5 pints of beer. According to Hubby, this is something that newbies has to go through.

We lepak at the carpark for a while (the guys smoking themselves away on their 'healthy activity') before we head for breakfast. Not bad for a new start...

We took Anne to KSN Driving Range yesterday to watch Daddy and Sam Suk swing swing. Well, Anne only got the feel of the irons and clubs at home but have not really seen on how it's been used.

Mummy bring Anne for her 1 year old this morning. As usual, Mummy got up at 6am, get everything ready and reached Kuchai Lama clinic by 7am. Usually, there was a long queue already in front of the clinic. However, there wasn't a single soul there. Mummy checked Anne's appointment card again & again. Mummy said, "It couldn't be wrong." Mummy went to the entrance to check for any closure sign and there wasn't any except for them to close on Raya holidays. Mummy was a bit worried also to wait at the entrance as we will be a target of bad guys. Mummy said, "Nevermine. It could be the H1N1 scare. People were just avoiding the crowd. About 15 minutes later, a mummy and her son queue behind us. Yes, we were the first to queue. Everything was fast including the jab (MMR - Measles, Mumps, Rubella Jab)...and there wasn't a single tear from our little princess, err, Mummy might say, our little warrior! Nurse jabbed on Anne's left arm. Nurse mentioned Anne will or might not get fever but it will in 5 days time if she does. Mummy asked the nurse to rephrase that again. 5 days time?! Hope Anne can react to the jab well. To Mummy, "No Pain, No Gain" Love, Anne.

I was on my way home to Bukit Jalil after work around 7.30pm. I turned into Taman Esplanad as usual from Kesas Highway and saw a candle lit with a small notice in Chinese characters. In my heart, 'Yah, another funeral...'

I stopped at the traffic light junction (which I usually did not obey...) and saw a canopy set up at the corner house at the Phase 2. One thing very unusual was I saw a man in white collar long sleeve shirt and black pants holding a big camera, standing by at the guard house (entrance to Phase 2 houses) as if he is expecting some VIP coming. Hmm, maybe he's just someone hired by the member of the family to record the funeral.

The next day when I came to work in the morning, I was alerted by Caryn that "Andy Lau's 'father-in-law' has passed away near your house". She started to interogate me like a criminal.

Caryn: Andy Lau's wife is your neighbour ah?
Me: Har? What?
Caryn: Do you know, which house ah?
Me: Err, I think I know.
Caryn: Have you seen his wife before?
Me: I used to cycle to Phase 2 for exercise, but that was long time ago before there gated the whole area.
Caryn: Well, you may have seen her, maybe you don't know lei...
Me: Err, ok lah, if you want to know which house, you can come tonight, together we go pay last respect. o.O

That night when I passed by the traffic light junction again, I saw more cars parked near the guard house. A police was stationed at every guard house to perform checks. They must be hired by the family also. I told Hubby about this and he mentioned that when he was having lunch with his brother at the nearby Mamak stall in the afternoon yesterday, reporters were busy editting the photos that they taken during the funeral. Haih, I think the area will be packed by reporters and onlookers tomorrow when the funeral procession takes place...

Today is PoPo's birthday (my mum) and we are celebrating during PoPo's lunch break in Giant Hypermarket, Kota Damansara (My mum is working on part time basis in the hypermarket). Yesterday, we went back to Wangsa Maju for a badminton game. We stumbled upon a Proton Wira with left hand drive at the traffic light junction near our alma mater. We questioned about the left hand driving in the roads of Malaysia on how is the driver...

...pay the toll (unless he has a SMART TAG)?
...get a parking ticket is he enters the parking lot in shopping malls or his office perhaps?
...shocking discovery by the fast food fellow when he's talking to an empty seat?

Of course all of the above only applies when he is driving alone. This reminds me of a story related to me by my then French teacher, Christine. She took her family for a holiday in Melaka. She was too used to left hand driving back in France and she forgotten that she's in Malaysia! She drove to the road where the vehicles will be coming from the opposite direction. Luckily there were no cars coming. Phew! Back to the Proton Wira, is it worth to import such car to Malaysia (unless it has a sentimental value to the owner...)?

Currently we are caught in a heated discussion on the teaching of Maths & Science should be in what language. In my opinion, these 2 subjects should be taught in English. (Yes, I casted my vote in Tun's blog) I watched Astro TVIQ (an educational channel on the cable network) that day and they were talking about triangles. I did not know that segitiga sama kaki is known as isosceles triangle in English.

I gave Hubby heat rub treatment yesterday. Yes, he overworked his biceps, as usual during his gym session. Yes, Hubby is into his gym routine again in an attempt to lose his weight. Hubby used to indulge in gym activities during college days. Since he entered work force, apparently his built up muscles has turned into F.A.T. On top of being a CEO (Chief Entertainment Officer) at work (yes, more beer sessions with customers), his belly has blossomed into 6-in-1 muscle pack and looked inflated. Back to the rub rub session, I applied a balsem recommended by the Fakawi Tribe. It is called Balsem Cap Tiga Kaki (3-Legged Brand Balsem).

Tzzy Anne: First Social Event

Uncle Jimmy (Mummy's colleague) invited us to Tjoe Derr's birthday party. It was the first party that Anne ever attended. Well, Mummy guess Anne was having a great time. With all the helium-filled balloons attached to the chairs, it made Anne felt excited. Anne should be the youngest at the party as most of the kids there were able to walk and taste the food there. The birthday boy wasn't too happy that day as he seemed not interested in taking pictures with everybody in front of his cake. His Daddy actually gave him a grape to keep his mouth busy...Mmmm. Daddy carried Anne to take some soy milk which is near the Ais Kacang machine.

Anne was intimidated by the machine's noise. Well, she had a bit of a drama. Eventually, Anne knew that the machine is not here to eat her. Mummy is not surprised that the cone hat stayed quite long on Anne's head as she did feel proud of wearing the purple headband with pink flower. Anne also had her first taste of Yakult, thanks to Uncle Jimmy.

I just read bro's blog. I didn't realised that Mom had so many 'ducks' at home. She is a collector of decorative items. You name it...porcelein small cute stuffs of animals, dolls, bottles, vases, even McDonald's Happy Meal merchandise (yes, we used to have 1 big cabinet full of them!). Of course, the latter one was when we were small kids. I remembered once when McDonald's came out with Hello Kitty dolls.

Boy that was hot but I am not in the craze. Adults (Adeline, you know, I know ah...) would lined up on the weekly release of the item and will be sold out by that day itself! Well, for your information, I think they were selling at RM9.90 for one. Very lucrative business for a fast food chain. I somehow love to collect cigarettes & Coca Cola from across the world.

Now that I don't travel anymore, I would ask my bro who likes to travel now to get me these stuffs. I know places like The Curve's weekend bazaar do sell collector's edition of Coca Cola but I prefer to get from the place of origin myself. Hubby and I brought Anne for physical checkup yesterday at the Kuchai Lama Government Clinic. Anne is now 7.6kg and 71cm tall. Doctor asked us what is her latest developments. Well, here's what I can think of so far...

Can point to objects in the sky (eg. aeroplane (day or night), helicopter, birds)
Climb up a flight of stairs by holding on to the rails all the way up - with supervision
Able to walk by holding her hands for a few steps
Able to repeat words by just saying it to Anne once, not all the time but happnened most of the time
Interested in books with animals
Able to demand to go out of the house by pointing to where Anne wants to go, the door!
Able to instruct our dog who came into the house by saying, "Out!" and pointing towards the door at the same time. When the dog walked out, Anne clapped her hand and laugh...
Able to pose and smile whenever we wanted to take pictures of Anne
Able to call and recognize the members of the family
Anne's 2 upper teeth is coming out

I was awaken by a tragic news by turning on the TV this morning. Michael Jackson died at 50 due to cardiac arrest. It would be a few weeks of coverage on his death & lifetime achievements, just like Princess Diana a more 11 years ago. I believe this would be a shock greater than the death of the People's Princess as his music rang virtually everybody's ears before. One of his representative for one of his court case shared that there was a 13 year old girl who approached him, asked his a question, "Did you just touched Micheal Jackson?" He said, "Yes.". She grabbed his hand and just fainted into the hands of her girlfriend. That shows how great MJ is to his fan. Well, MJ will always be remembered as the greatest icon ever, forever...

H1N1 virus had invaded Wangsa Maju ...apparently in SMK Section 2. It seemed that this place is not safe anymore. With such a high crime rate, now infested with an outbreak, this place is really a hell. Our family had a conversation about this yesterday during dinner. Something my father-in-law said which caught my attention. He mentioned that we should not be panicked about H1N1 as it is something that is going to stay for long. It will be around us for quite some time. He mentioned that it is best that we got infected when we are young and is able to bulid immunity against the virus. I actually agreed. Tzyy Anne: The Stand

Anne stood for 3 seconds this afternoon without support and she improved the record this evening for about 10 seconds before tumbling down. Anne even managed to take 2 steps forward before she went unbalanced. Mummy is expecting more from Anne this week. Bravo Anne!

30/4/2009 (Thursday): Took Anne to clinic for general checkup. Anne is now 7.2 kg and 67cm tall. We sat behind an Indian mother and son (Son about 1 year plus). He looked at Anne and said, "Ama, thumbi." The mother then said, "Ya, thambi." Well, that shows Anne doesn't looked like a girl at all. I would like to correct her but I was thinking, "Nevermind, forget it".

1/5/2009 (Friday): 4am - Depart from Bukit Jalil for Penang to visit 4th Uncle and family. 9 of us, family members sat on 2 Hondas...the old Accord and the new City. Me, Anne, Hubby, ZhuinLi Goo Goo and Sam Suk (the driver) were on the Honda City. Anne's car seat was on the left passenger seat behind, I was sandwiched in the middle and Hubby was at the right passenger seat behind. As the new Honda City was a sporty type of car, it was super cramp behind.

We reached Penang about 8.30am. Tired and hungry, 4th uncle and family took us for breakfast immediately. They took us to the famous hawker centre in Pulau Tikus. We ate like the Klump family. 4th uncle ordered

8 bowls of curry mee
8 plates of fried Kuey Teow
2 plates of banana & raisin pancakes
2 big plates of Ho Fun
4 plates of Poh Piah

We stayed at 4th uncle's place. Hubby, Papa, Ngee Suk & Sam Suk went for 18th hole golf in Kulim in the afternoon. Later for lunch, 4th uncle took us (Me, Anne & Ah Ngien) for lunch at Gurney. Another feast again...

1 big bowl of crab porridge
1 big bowl of vermicelli in broth with fish
1 big plate fried vermicelli
2 plates of stir fried vegetables with toufoo
1 plate of Tau Chew steamfish

For dinner, it was another feast yet again in Hong Kong hawker centre...

4pm - We left Penang to Sungai Petani for Tai Po birthday celebration. The dinner was I guess about 8-10km from Tai Po's house. Our dinner consists of 3 tables. The restaurant deco was quite nice but there's more to the nice interior. Underneath the table was infested with hungry mosquito (Maybe there is not many customers around the other time because that day was a day for people to celebrate Mother's Day...), the service was very the slow and poor (8 dishes in 3 hours). Me and Anne missed the cake cutting ceremony for Tai Po as Anne was getting cranky (It was almost 11pm). We went to bed by then.

3/5/2009 (Sunday): Suddenly I was awaken by Hubby saying that we are leaving for KL soon. I looked at the clock..it was half passed midnight. I thought our plan was to leave at 4am.. Hubby said the earlier, the better. Deja vu... I was having plugged ducts on my right tank, I was thinking to 'settle' by morning. We left in 30 minutes after that. 4 of us was in the Honda City (Good Grief!). I can't really dozed off as I have to empty my tanks. Anne was too tired, she doesn't have the energy to empty the tanks which left me to have plugged ducts on the left tank pulak..argh. We reached KL about 4.30am. And I was all exhausted. We dozed off again untill 12pm. There goes our weekend...

Today Anne is going to reveal her secret to her magic porridge.

The ingredients are...

Rice

Carrot

Potato

Spinach

Chicken

Dried Scallop

All of the above, boil until cooked. Blend them and pour into a bowl. Sprinkle with some anchovy powder. Mixed well and voila! Anne's magic porridge!

I played badminton yesterday after work (just to catch up on some exercise, haven't been exercising for more than a year!). As usual rushing home to meet Anne. I was all sweaty and was longing for a good bath. As I reached home and rush straight to the bathroom and undress..and to my dismay.. How come no water at all from the shower?!! Wrapped in Hubby's towel, I went and asked Ah Ngien why there is no water supply. She said Ah Ya is repairing the pipe upstairs and the main water supply has to be switched off. Aiks, so how am I going to take my bath lei... The kitchen main tap has running water. Tai Ngien said why I don't I bath outside the kitchen area... Well, I said, 'Quite interesting..' But I must have the tools... Tai Ngien offered me her usual bath sarung for me to put on. Yes, the idea is to bath like those Indonesian ladies in contruction sites with the sarung on, get the idea? These follow suit by Maelah & my sis in law. Of course the area at the back has a concrete wall, so we kind of have some privacy lar.. So it was a re-make of the scene from Perempuan, Isteri dan... , the mandi sungai scene... o.O

Veron: The Journey To & Fro -> Work

I read bro's blog lately. He was posting on his journey to & fro his working place. He travels to Vietnam quite often. That reminds me of my work 3 years ago when I was with the airlines. Yeah, it was quite frustrating where you can't afford to be late to work as the workplace is like 50-60km from your house (unless you live beside the airport runway...). Believe me, I was never late for my work then. Yeah, I have been through the journey from the ERL station to the airport. Except that I had been through the 'backstage' of the airport like the security offices, special lanes for immigration checks, etc. I was better off than bro as he has to go through the same place compared to my time where I will be guessing how does my destination airport looked like, is the immigration officer nice (especially places like Australia & LAX!). The journey most of the time took about 45 minutes to 1 hour to reach airport/home/hotel. I was so exhausted that I could dozed off while standing. At that time, I was wondering that I would rather go through traffic jams than travelling long distance like this. Bro, looks like we have something in common now... o.O

Tzyy Anne: Wake Up Call

Mummy was awaken by Anne's urges to poo poo... Mummy was feeding Anne bout 5am. Anne wasn't comfortable as she did not poop the day before. Mummy sensed her 'pushing' and was crying. Mummy fast fast switched on the room light and grabbed the potty. Anne managed to pass urine and was finding difficuties to push her poop out. Poor Anne, Mummy grabbed her water bottle so that Anne can gulp some water. Hmm, it's abit late to do that but at least it was an effort. Anne's screaming getting louder..Mummy had to do something that Po Po and Ah Ngien used to do... Mummy had to dig out the poop by using toothpick! It doesn't help much either...The poop just have to come out eventually...and Anne has got to do it on her own. Mummy waked Daddy up from other room to give support. Daddy can't help much either. That was when Ah Ngien came to the rescue. Anne gave her last full effort push. Phew! It wasn't a very hard stool after all. But Anne was so relief and speechless after that... Anne collapsed to dreamland after that...

Anne went for jab session on the 26th of February. As usual, Anne didn't create much of a problem. Cry a few sec, fever for 24 hours. Today will be Anne's historical day. It's Anne's first taste of solids! Anne doesn't quite like porridge though...but she likes papaya! Daddy also gave Anne some old winter melon (from the soup). Good start Anne!
